Description: May 20, 2010—Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich was honored by Irene Hamada, President of the Los Angeles County Asian American Employees Association (LACAAEA), with the “Outstand Community Leader Award” for his steadfast support of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (API) community in the County at the LACAAEA’s annual “Heritage Day” celebration.
Antonovich praised the API community for adding so much to the great American tapestry in the fields of science, business, government, and entertainment.
The first May as “Asian Pacific American Heritage Month” was designated by President George H. W. Bush in 1990.
Ginger Chan (KTLA) & Ted Chen (NBC) served at emcee’s at the event.
